Mike Gorham, famed singer of the Metal Rules! Radio theme song, and all around awesome guy, is our guest host for this weeks show.  Check out his channel on YouTube.

We start out with a solid 17 minutes of round table and then jump right into the Grab Bag of Metal!

First up, Carbon 9.

We listen to Tiberius Project.

The funny thing about guests of the Metal Rules! Radio show is that 99% of the time they are excited to talk to us and follow through on their plans to stop by, call in, or wait anxiously by the phone for us to call them.  BUT… There is that 1% of the guests that DICK US OVER!  And that 1% is SPIDER!  That’s right, Spider of Powerman 5000 completely screwed us and didn’t call.  It takes a special team of guys to handle that kind of a dick over and have the show go on without a hitch.  And that special group of guys is clearly not Metal Rules! Radio.  No, instead of having a well though out backup plan, we ran around panicking trying to figure out what to do next.  So we tried calling friends of the show, and finally got a hold of Mike Mawby, former guest host on the show.  But hilarity truly found its way to the show when we spoke to Chris Kontos, who answered all of the questions we had for Spider, as Spider!  It was a huge rebound from the middle finger we received from Spider.

We jump back into the Grab Bag of Metal. This time it’s Combat.

Rob has it out with Renee!  Live on the phone!

Finally we listen to the Nigel Dupree Band and close out the show with them.

Mike Gorham joins the crew, and after a small technical glitch…. HE SPEAKS!  You can check out all of Mike’s videos on  his YouTube channel.

We jump right into the Grab Bag of Metal and first listen to Orange Sky.  They get a collective thumbs up.

Next we listen to Prayers of Sanity, and Mike goes 2 for 2!

Next up, Sacred Oath.

Holy Hell!  We get a phone call!  And it’s Michael O’Keefe!  Friend him on Facebook.

And finally, a return to What’s Wrong With Jeff.

Episode 20 – That’s why God gave you two

We start off the show on a somber note, and we’d like to send our best wishes to Zakk Wylde for a speedy recovery.  Jeff went to a metal bachelor party for JJ, tune in to listen to drunken stories involving a small chihuahua.

We talk to Mindy Hall of Rock of Love, and we all show off like a bunch of peacocks trying to score a date.

We listen to Sekond Skyn’s song “The Pit” off of their album Addicted to Chaos.  We loved them and wanted to hear more of them but needed to table our discussions to talk to George Lynch.  Hilarity ensues when Angus can’t get his questions out.

Episode 15: What’chu Talkin’ ‘Bout Josh

We start the show off with a rousing tale from Jeff about angel dust and crying. Quickly then to Jeff’s Grab Bag of Metal. Elenium – Caught in a Wheel. Moving onward we, Rob, interviews Edie McClurg (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Hogan Family). Sadly we just had a few tech quirks at that exact time. Jeff’s mic was coming across too hot causing it to break up (we believe) on Edie’s speaker phone. You mostly hear Rob doing the interview. Towards the end we got Jeff’s mic working better. Jeff did all this work to set the interview up and in the end hardly got any questions in. Isn’t technology great? The show took a turn when we heard way too much about his prostate exam. From there we tumble into What’s Wrong with Jeff! Amazingly there’s a lot. He lost his electricity, his router died, his toe is infected and he has a random hive. We wrap the show with an impromptu call to Josh.

Apparently Layne Staley is dead. From there we jump right into “Jeff’s Grab Bag of Metal”. Anonymous HorsesNeigh! Sayers. Jeff wonders if they were influenced by Horse the Band. Next band up is SimbiosBounded In Adversity and Naked Mental Violence.

Did you know that you can drink at fully nude strip bars in Canada? Canadians rule! Jeff tells us how he was attacked by a “Wolverine”. There was alcohol involved in the story. Dethklok and The Goon will be teaming up in comic book form! Awesome. Then on to the reviews!! Josh and Angus talk about Probot, Dave Grohl’s project with a bunch of metal guys. Josh hates Led Zepplin. Angus reviews ClutchStrange Cousins from the West and some how we end up talking about Pantera and Down. Josh and Jeff do their best Phil impressions. Josh brings up Opeth, trying to bring the proverbial ship around to talk about what brought us into Metal. We wrap the show with a rousing round of “What’s Wrong with Jeff?” and Jeremy and Jeff talk about the band Sweet. Friend of the show, Stuart Smith, is in the band Sweet now. He sent in their newest release Live in America for us to sample. Fun fact: Angus watches the Food Network. He says to try his Cheese Cake.

Episode 12: Scumdogs of the Webiverse
Greetings Metal people! We jump right into it with Jeff’s tale from the Warp Tour. He recalled the bands: Under Oath, The Millionaires, Jeffree Star, Therefore Tomorrow, Hit the Lights – who apparently were douches, 3OH!3, and Bad Religion. He missed NOFX for shame.
We have the one, the only, Oderus Urungus! Who is awesome and gave us the best ending ever to any interview! We’d like to thank the great Space Warrior for thawing out to bring destruction to our planet.
We do a review of Stripping the Pistol. We all agreed that the band was great but there was a lack of info to give out about the band. You should definitely check them out.

Episode 11: Midgets of Nok Su Cow

ED sits in for Jeremy while he is on a soul seeking walkabout in Cambodia.

We have news!  We pay our respects (sort of) to Midnight from Crimson Glory (You Tube clip of Ski and Mike Gorham) and we learn of Phil from Malevolent Creation’s latest convenient store adventures.

Question for the listeners – is it ok to re-record a hit album 20 years after the original release? Leave us your comments.

Dream Theater has a new CD, Black Clouds and Silver Linings. Angus saw a guy play a stick.  Killswitch Engage has a new CD, self titled.

We listen to Machine Dog from the 80’s and compare it to the new Machine Dog (which we also listen to).  Then as a REALLY special treat, we listen to Johnny Sin.  Strap in kids!  We listen to a couple of tracks including staff favorite Big Black Lesbians.

Slayer has a new album coming out – World Painted Blood, and will be playing the Mayhem Festival with Marilyn Manson.

We interview Jason McMaster of Watchtower, Dangerous Toys, and Broken Teeth. He’s an excellent interview, a self proclaimed metal dork, and a friend of the show.

We interview Bill Leverty, the guitar player for Firehouse. Angus reviews Clutch who he went to see in Atantic City.  Shadows Fall was there, so was So I Had To who is Ace of Cakes Duff’s band.  Jeff Hates Duff (Sorry Duff, the rest of us think you rule!).  Angus talked to a drunk guy at the show, and was picked up by a guy (we swear!) and thrown into the mosh pit.  Ed likes Cake.

We listen to Ski’s (of Deadly Blessing) band Faith Factor and review.  Faith Factor is a Christian metal band.

We interview Scott Wily of Vital Remains and Zircon, and learn much about Josh’s past.  Ed gets slobbered by metal Buck.  We learn Josh is not embarrassing…. at all.

Episode 09: 40 Pound Pelvis

Josh watched a show on VH-1 called Rock Doc: Do it for the Band: Women of the Sunset Strip. A documentary about the broads that hung out with the Glam Rock Bands. Hosted by Bobby Brown…naturally. Angus goes on to review the new Steel Panther album, Dealth To All But Metal. Some might remember this band when they were Metal Shop. We digress into Wizard World Philly 2009 and Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC. Back to metal Jeff fills us in that Victory Records put us back on their mailing list. First one reviewed: The Autumn Offering: Requiem. Darkest Hour: The Eternal Returns. Bury Your Dead: Nothing Personal. Rob reviews Howard Leese: Secret Weapon. Howard was the guitar player for Heart. Josh has news!! Faith No More had a reunion sans the guitar player guy. Apparently Down has a third CD and are working on a Fourth. Rob breaks through with some Howard Leese and we get a little enjoyment out of it. Back to Josh’s news. Europe has a new CD. Fantastic. More reviews from Jeff! Alex Beyrodt’s Voodoo Circle. Angus saw Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. Starring Megan Fox and that dude.  From the movie we transform (nice right?) to more reviews Covered Call: Money Never Sleeps. Josh brings up the NFL? Three offensive lineman from the Dallas Cowboys have formed a band—Free Reign. Which is weird right? Devin Townsend has a new CD called Ki. We also learned that Red Bull and Beer are bad for Josh. He becomes retarded.

There’s more stories about his bathroom habits that anyone should ever know. Ever.

Episode 07: Everybody Loves Buck

We start off with some reviews from Josh—Ted Nugent: Scream Dream and Austrian Death Machine and we hear Josh’s impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Which was HYSTERICAL. Listen to that part of the show now and hear it later! Jeff has read yet another book, Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential. From there the show gets a bit messy but comes back when we briefly discuss CDs that signaled the end of a band. Jeff was not a fan of Bruce Dickinson’s Skunkworks, Jeremy was not a fan of Primus’ Tales from the Punchbowl. To bring it back around Angus brought up Flight 666 the Iron Maiden feature. Jeff questions why Eddie Trunk is so popular in the Metal community. Some other names are tossed around, somewhere in there Adam Curry comes up and Jeremy plugs the No Agenda podcast with Adam Curry and John C. Dvorak. The conversation wraps back to the Iron Maiden Flight 666 and Josh throws the question out there who would you want to sing for Iron Maiden if Bruce Dickinson wasn’t with the band. Jeff said Michael Kiske (Helloween) would have been a great choice, everyone else starts to just toss random names out there. Angus said Dio, Jeremy said Chris Cornell, Josh said Steve Perry. During all this Buck pukes, Josh considers eating it on a roll. Angus has a review of Warbringer and we wrap up with a lively discussion of that nectar of the gods—beer. Angus closes the show about a bad night with a beer bong…

Episode 06: I Want a Beer

We premiere for the world the Official Metal Rules! Radio Theme song! Check it out on the Official Metal Rules! Radio MySpace page—be our friend.

The Show starts off with Jeff declaring that there was, “no banging on Bones” he was not thrilled with the season ending of the Fox show, Bones. On to reviews…Jeff reviews Beyond Dishonor: Signs of a Struggle. Jeff is a little nervous since he wasn’t a fan of the CD. So, Josh said he would review it. Josh reviewed Black Label Society’s Skullage. Back to Jeff, he reviews Resurrecturis: Non Voglio Morire. Next up is Angus with Nuclear Theatre—we get to hear a few samples. Angus, Rob and Jeff weren’t fans of the vocals but Josh and Jeremy liked what they heard in general. Following that we play Scarlet Sins. Which we all agreed was pretty good…along will liking the band, Josh also felt the Scarlet Sin’s bass player should make out with him.  The penultimate moment came when Jeremy reviewed Metallica’s Deathmagnetic—he didn’t really like it. Angus found an article on Blabbermouth that had a piece of an interview James Hetfield did with Classic Rock Magazine. We close the show with Tomorrow’s Outlook “Doubt”. Tomorrow’s Outlook singer Mike Gorham did the vocals on the Metal Rules! Radio theme.

Metal Rules! Radio Idol! There is a call to all bands out there to do your best cover of the Metal Rules! Radio theme song. The winning band will be interviewed by us on an upcoming show. Put your song on a CD and mail it to: Metal Rules! Radio Idol, 3 Overbrook Circle, Moorestown, NJ 08057

Episode 05: El Chupacabra in this el Banjo

Josh came up with that title…I have no idea what it means or if it’s even spelled right…

We start off with finding out Jeff read a book—with words. The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx. Which then lead into a discussion of herion in general which then further digressed into books in general. I have no idea how…as Angus said, we’re a literate group. Oh, and apparently when Josh was sick, he thought CNN was watching him. Movies were brought up, Jeff sang a song about Josh and Rob and Jeff had some eBay stories to tell. After that the wheels pretty much come off of the show and we digress into God knows what.

In music we discuss Cobalt, Psycroptic, Scar Symmetry, Megadeth, Faith or Fear, 1349, Mastodon and Tool.

Episode 02: An Evening with JJ and BBQ Chicken

Joining us this time is JJ from Divine Rapture, Vile and Hate Eternal. We find out that he has nothing to do with Lost, Fringe and “Dy-no-mite” is not his catch phrase. He’s a very cool, very funny guy and we were thrilled to have him in studio. By “in studio” I mean Angus’ dining room. Also making a cameo is the Metal Rules! Radio mascot BUCK. After the show, we had BBQ chicken prepared by Chef Angus. If you want the recipe contact Angus.
